The latter part of the book of Alma
takes place during a very exciting
period of Book of Mormon history.
Following the inspirational story of
the Stripling Warriors and their
service to their country under
General Helaman, the account of
the territory of Zarahemla is
replete with intrigue, deception,
and the northward expansion of
the Nephite nation.

Organizations such as the Secret
Combinations and Gadianton
Robbers are well known to
modern-day Latter-day Saints.
These groups and their insidious
infiltration of the government
structure, rivals any modern day
nation for adventure and political
intrigue. In a period of time when
treasonous Nephites commanded
Lamanite armies, and righteous
Lamanites—including the Stripling
Warriors—joined forces with the
Nephite armies, it became difficult
to tell the good guys from the bad
guys. Sound familiar?

Upon the Isles of the Sea tells the story of two returning Stripling Warriors. Following their lives up to and beyond their association with Hagoth and the "many ships" that he sent upon the western sea, perhaps to understand a bit more about these Book of Mormon people we identify as Nephites and Lamanites.

When Seth, a young Stripling Warrior comes home from the wars after nearly eight years of fighting, he barely has time to settle in before Helaman, his former commander, now a missionary, comes to the village and calls him on yet another assignment. But Lilliana is determined that Seth will not leave the village again - at least not without her.

Jared, Seth's best friend and also a former Stripling Warrior, is persuaded by General Moroni to remain in government service to infiltrate the devious "Secret Combinations." When Seth and Jared meet Hagoth, an "exceedingly curious man," in the City of Bountiful, their quest takes on a whole new dimension.

Upon the Isles of the Sea is a story or courage, sacrifice, and honor.
