A continuation of the rousing
Pug Connor novel series.

Domestic terrorism, both imported
and home grown, runs rampant
in the streets of America and it
has risen to nuclear proportions.

Congress has passed the
Domestic Tranqility Act, greatly
expanded the Patriot Act, and
authorized unprecedented law
enforcement powers including
those granted to civilian contract security firms.

Pug Connor is invited to meet with the ultra secret Cloister, an international group of former world leaders who are intent on changing the course of history. At home, western politicians fight even harder for the formation of the Republic of Western American as nearly half the states choose to leave the Union and align with the new nation.

President Bill Snow is faced with a divided America, a rebellious Congress, a restless military, and a frightened populace.

General Pug Connor faces his own demons, trying to determine what kind of man he is and how he will respond as the warrior in him is unleashed. The Cloister has forced Connor to confront the toughest decision of his career: is he a patriot or a traitor? Is he a killer or the director of a government agency?

Pug's deputy director, Carlos Castillo, a former Marine Command Sergeant Major, faces no such conflict. He fully understands his nature: he is a stone cold, instinctive killer, single handedly seeking to rid the world of evil.

Blood and Treasure
Spring 2011

Ryan is known for his spare, lean prose, and his amazing understanding of the human condition... This latest offering may be his best yet. The subject matter is timely; the action is credible and often nail-biting.

State of Rebellion and
Uncivil Liberties

This political action thriller is just what one might expect from Ryan, who is well known for his political intrigue novels and his vast knowledge of political and military tactics.  The action is fast and enthralling and the premise is one that will appeal to many people.

Ryan paints a most realistic picture of the issues that trouble Westerners concerning our Federal government, land use, illegal workers, and state rights. He's one of the few male writers who presents a truly strong female character who is still feminine. Both the physical background in the book and the political background are realistic and believable. Jenny Hansen, Meridian Magazine
